February 12-14, 2014 UNIVERSITY PARIS DIDEROT in the context of the ERC project PHILOSOPHY OF CANONICAL QUANTUM GRAVITY directed by Gabriel Catren at the Laboratoire SPHERE – Sciences, Philosophie, Histoire (UMR 7219, University Paris Diderot - CNRS) The aim of the workshop is to explore new answers to old questions concerning the foundations of both classical and quantum mechanics. To do so, we shall consider mechanics in the light of mathematical formalisms that for the moment have not yet played a major role in the debates concerning its conceptual foundations, such as for instance: • Symplectic and Poisson geometry, • Noncommutative geometry, • C*-algebras, • Geometric quantization, • Group representation theory, • Topos theory, • Equivariant methods (e.g. BRST cohomology, stacks) |
